While we strive to reach school-aged students with crucial fire safety and burn prevention messages, we also understand how important it is to be able to teach lessons that will help to meet academic standards. That is what inspired us to create this unique package of fire safety and burn prevention lessons that are tied directly to academic standards.

How were these lessons created?
A panel of teachers, principals, and experts in curriculum development and fire safety and burn prevention was assembled. They identified where our standard “Learn About Burns” curriculum correlated with academic standards for Literacy, Math, and Health and Safety for 3rd and 5th grade. They then created new lessons that focus on important fire and burn prevention topics, addressing even more academic standards in fun and unique ways.
How does it work?
To make this package as “user friendly” as possible, we have included a “standards matrix” for both third grade and fifth grade. Using the matrix, you can easily find exactly what you need by searching by topic or standard, which then links you directly to the lesson(s) that will meet this objective.
What if I don't teach in Pennsylvania?
We have built our model around the Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Education. However, it is easily adaptable by cross-referencing the PA standards for Literacy, Math, and Health and Safety with those from your state.
